Betty Ann (Atwater) Pearson, 66, of East Hartford, beloved wife for 36 years of Robert Pearson, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Born in Hartford on May 31, 1959, she was the daughter of the late George Norman Atwater and Nancy (Duncklee) Atwater.
Betty grew up in Hartford and graduated from East Hartford High School, class of 1979. She worked as a bookkeeper at an attorney’s office for many years. Betty was a dedicated friend that went above and beyond for the ones she cared for. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her granddaughters.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Betty will be forever missed by her devoted husband Robert “Bob”; three children, Adam Pearson and wife Brittany of Wallingford, Kyle Pearson of Vernon, and Amanda Opalacz and husband Cory of Vernon, and her two adored granddaughters, Mavis and Violet Opalacz.
She is also survived by two brothers, Bruce Atwater and wife Ann-Marie and George Atwater; three sisters, Barbara MacDonald, Helen Daudelin and Kathleen Gerhardt; her dear uncle, John Atwater and cousin Cindy Atwater and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 17 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
