Dominic “Dom” Anthony LaPenta II, 55, from East Hartford, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Born on January 29, 1969, Dom was the son of the late Linda (Cabana) Dosch and the late Donald LaPenta. Dom graduated from East Hartford High School, class of 1987. Dom was a hard worker – a true entrepreneur – and he spent his career as an owner of his construction company, The Northeast Companies, and his trucking company, Apache Industries. In 2000, Dom built his family home in Tolland, CT, where for more than 20 years, his family shared so many fun and loving memories.
In his free time, Dom enjoyed the beach, playing with his dogs, eating good food, target shooting, and beating all of his friends and family at foosball. He had an eclectic taste in music, and loved to sing along to all kinds of music, from Pink Floyd to rapping Biggie Smalls. Those who knew Dom well will tell you that Dom thought he was a freestyler…but the jury’s out. Dom had a witty and sarcastic sense of humor, which he instilled in his children. Dom was, most of all, a dedicated and loving dad to his favorite two humans in the world: Hannah and Dominic. They had so many adventures together – among their favorites were Yankees games at Yankee Stadium, and countless other games at stadiums all over the country. Dom was a devoted father. He was also a brother, uncle, and dear friend. So many will deeply miss him.
Dominic leaves behind his two loving children; Hannah Rose LaPenta and Dominic Anthony LaPenta III, both of East Hartford; the mother of his children, Tammy LaPenta; two sisters Robyn Jones and Jill LaPenta Harris; his girlfriend, Jennifer Wilson, a sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Joe Reilly; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Dominic was predeceased by his parents.
A service to commemorate Dominic’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford, CT. Calling hours will be from 11 am – 1 pm, followed by the service. For on-line expressions of sympathy, please visit www.desopoeh.com
