

Edward Mowel, 95, of East Hartford, devoted husband of the late Eunice (Bartlett) Mowel entered into eternal rest on Sunday (May 24, 2015) at Ledgecrest Health Center in Kensington. Born in Hartford on September 30, 1919, he was the eldest child of the late Magdalena (Zawdzka) and Wladyslaw Mowel. He resided in East Hartford most of his life. A WWII Navy veteran, he served on the USS Rednour in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Ed leaves a daughter, Shirley and her husband Casimer Kucharczyk of Kensington and a son, Charles and his wife Donna Mowel of Middletown; a sister, Mrs. Frances Harvey of CA; a brother, Stanley Mowel and his wife Rose of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Sarah Brennan and her husband Gary, Emily Mosley and her husband Jonathan, James Kucharczyk, Kristen Pelletier and her husband Kevin, Jamie Letizio and her husband Anthony, Kylee Mowel and Jonathan Mowel and his wife Megan; four great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Emma and Warren Pelletier, Jackson Mowel and soon to be born baby boy Letizio; and many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. Besides his wife, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Benjamin, Walter, John, Mitchell and William. Ed will be remembered for his deep compassion for others and his great wit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (May 28) at 10 a.m. at SS Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
