Edward P. Ryba

Edward P. Ryba, 44, of Coventry and formerly of East Hartford, loving husband of Christi (Dobransky) Ryba, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his home. Born in Hartford on May 2, 1969, a son of the late Edward J. and June (Baker) Ryba, he had resided in East Hartford for most of his life prior to moving to Coventry six years ago. Ed was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1987 and had attended Manchester Community College. A talented card player he was an aspiring Professional Poker player and a member of the Poker Players Alliance. Ed was an avid loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Bills, and UCONN football teams and also was a great cook, who enjoyed cooking for others on holidays. Most of all, Ed was a proud and dedicated father to his two daughters. Besides his beloved wife Christi, Ed is survived by two daughters, Stephany A. Ryba and Brittany A. Ryba both of Coventry; his brother, Joseph P. Ryba of Coventry; his mother-in-law, Melissa Greaves and her husband, Robert, of Vernon; his father-in-law, Peter Dobransky and his wife, Linda, of Bristol; a sister-in-law, Erin M. Driscoll and her husband, Thomas, of Burlington; two nephews, Edward J. Zimmerman, Jr. and Joseph T. Driscoll both of Burlington; and two nieces, Ashley Ryba and Samantha Ryba both of Enfield. He also leaves his two Boston Terrier dogs, Pudge and Baylee; and several dear friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29 at 9:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, (Section P), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, May 28 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ed's name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 35 Cold Spring Rd., Suite 315, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
