
Edward J. Shea, 101, of East Hartford, loving husband for 79 years to the late Grace (Sylvester) Shea, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, (March 28, 2006) at his home surrounded by his beloved and caring family. Born in Hartford, a son of the late Dennis and Rose (Rosasco) Shea, he had resided in East Hartford for over 50 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 55 years by Standard Structural Steel, Newington, and was a member of the International Association of Bridge Structural & Ornamental Ironworkers Local #832. He was a devout and faithful communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Church, East Hartford and one who enjoyed gardening, especially his vegetable garden. Besides his beloved wife and parents Mr. Shea was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth ""Betty"" Doughty of East Hartford; two sisters, Lillian Shea and Teresa Sheridan; four brothers, William Shea, John Shea, Peter Shea, Fredrick Shea. Mr. Shea is survived by his daughter, Rose S. Tyaack and her husband Conrad of Middletown; a son-in-law, James Doughty of South Windsor; a brother, Frank Shea of East Hartford; two sisters, Madeline Shea and Anna Shea both of East Hartford; seven special grandchildren; 12 adored great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Friday, March 31, at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church, One Community Street, East Hartford. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Burnside Avenue, East Hartford.
