

Edward F. “Eddie” Sheehan, Jr., 70, of Portland, loving husband of 30 years of Maria (Ruotolo) Sheehan, entered into eternal life on Monday, July 21, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Foxboro, MA on August 18, 1954, a son of the late Edward F. and Alice (Walsh) Sheehan, he had been a resident of Portland for the past 33 years. Prior to his retirement in 2017, Eddie was a dedicated Aircraft Mechanic for 43 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company in East Hartford and Middletown.
An avid outdoorsman, Eddie enjoyed biking, golfing, and hiking and was a member of a couple area hiking clubs. He also liked building car models, airplane models and refinishing furniture. He was an avid reader and a longtime loyal fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Eddie was known as a “grill master” and talented cook who enjoyed preparing dinners for his family and close friends. Most of all, Eddie was a devoted loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle who cherished every moment spent with his family.
Along with his wife Maria, Eddie is survived by a sister, Carol Baldwin of Ponte Verde Beach, FL; his mother-in-law, Areta M. (Colligan) Ruotolo of Glastonbury; two sisters-in-law, Angela Picard and her husband Norman of East Hartford, Celia Johnson of Cheshire; three brothers-in-law, Salvatore Ruotolo, III of Clinton, Vincent Ruotolo and his wife Carmel of New Haven, and Michael Ruotolo of North Haven. He also leaves two special individuals who he mentored and treated like his own children, Val “Larry” Zhukov and his wife Carla of Wethersfield, Louise Bergendahl and her husband Marc of Albany, NY; his many nieces and nephews, Kylie Picard, Michael Johnson and his wife Sharon, Vincent Ruotolo, Jr. and his wife Michelle, Salvatore Ruotolo, Barbara Ann Ruotolo, Michael Ruotolo, Jr. and his wife Ashley, Gianna Ruotolo, Stephanie Meoli and her husband Eric; several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, former co-workers, and dear friends. Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his father-in-law, Salvatore Ruotolo, Jr. of New Haven and a niece, Amy Ruotolo of East Haven.
Funeral service will be Friday (July 25th) at 12 noon at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at the Swedish Cemetery, 184 William Street, Portland. Relatives and friends may call the funeral home chapel on Friday morning (July 25th) from 10:30 am to 12 noon.
