
Fernando ""Nick"" Sacerdote, 89, of East Hartford, loving husband of the late Catherine ""Kay"" (Cersosimo) Sacerdote, peacefully passed away on Saturday (March 11, 2006) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (DeLia) Sacerdote, he had resided in East Hartford for over fifty years. He was a graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, Class of 1935. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served with Connecticut's 169th Infantry Regiment of the 43rd Infantry Division. He and his fellow soldiers of the 169th went to combat in Guadalcanal, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and in Japan. Prior to his retirement, Nick was employed for over 50 years by G. Fox & Co. in Hartford. Nick enjoyed studying and playing the stock market while also being a loyal and dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women's Basketball team. Besides his beloved wife and parents, Nick was predeceased by two sisters, Elisa Pinnel and Ethel Massaro, and three brothers, Marlow Sacerdote, John Sacerdote, and Joseph Sacerdote Jr. Nick is survived by a son, Joseph Sacerdote and his wife, Carmen, of Peoria, AZ; a daughter, Christine M. Sacerdote of West Hartford; a brother, Francis ""Frank"" Sacerdote and his wife, Diane, of Rocky Hill; two sisters, Bianca D'Ambrosio of Hartford, Lillian Coughlin and her husband, Richard, of Hartford; a grandson, Nicholas Michael Sacerdote; a special friend, Nydia Domenech of East Hartford; several nieces and nephews. Festivities will be Tuesday, March 14th beginning at 9 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Burnside Avenue, East Hartford.
