Frances Agnes “Fran” (Batsie) Stearns, 73, of East Hartford, loving wife of 54 years of Irving E. Stearns, peacefully journeyed home to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on October 17, 1946, a daughter of the late William Francis and Agnes (Brown) Batsie, she had been a lifelong resident of the Manchester/East Hartford area. Fran was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1964. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for forty years by United Health Care Insurance Company (previously Travelers Insurance) in Hartford. A devout catholic, Fran was a former communicant of St. Bridget Church, Manchester. She loved all animals, especially dogs. Most of all she was a proud and devoted wife, mother and especially grandmother to her only grandchild, Alyssa, who was the light of her life.
In addition to her husband Irving, Fran is survived by her beloved daughter, Nancy E. Blinn and her husband Porter of Manchester; her adored granddaughter, Alyssa Emma Blinn of Manchester; a brother, William Batsie and his wife Denise of Manchester; and two sisters, Patricia Bergeron of Manchester, Margaret Carlin and her husband William in North Carolina. She also leaves two brothers-in-law, Edmond Stearns and his wife Cheryl in West Virginia, William Stearns in New York; two sisters-in-law, Carol Dart and David in New York, and Kathy Stearns in New York; several nieces, nephews, friends, and former co-workers. Besides her parents, Fran was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Dolan in Alabama; and a brother-in-law, Robert Stearns of East Hartford.
Funeral service will be Friday (February 7, 2020) with a memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. Bridget Church of St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish, 80 Main Street, Manchester. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fran’s name may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111. The D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
