Geraldine “Gerri” Ann Bonetti, a woman of remarkable strength and spirit, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026. Born in Hartford, on December 1, 1934, to Salvatore and Letizia Diana, Gerri took immense pride in her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Bill Bonetti. She is survived by her two daughters: Judi Jaworski and her husband Tom and Lisa Cascio and her husband Rob. More than anything, Gerri was an incredible mom. She absolutely adored her daughters and made sure a single day never went by without speaking to both of them.
Gerri was also blessed by two granddaughters, Alexandra (Cascio)Modugno (husband Tommaso) and Jessica Cascio (fiancé Jake Leue), who were the light of her life. She showered them with her love and cherished every moment they spent together. Gerri was a perfect Nana in every way. Gerri was also so thrilled to have a great-grandson, Alessio Modugno. His presence brought joy to her world these last few months.
Gerri attended Saint Michael’s School in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School class of 1952. Upon graduation she began her work as an administrative secretary for MJ Neiditz & Co. in Hartford where she worked for over 40 years. She was a capable woman who "got things done," whether it was efficiently running an office or keeping an immaculate house and yard, hosting family gatherings and picnics or caring for her family.
In the early years, prompt 6:00 pm dinners were a consistent and valued part of her day, but Sunday dinner was the center of Gerri’s week, where she was known for cooking her sauce all day and serving a wonderful pasta and meatball meal at 3:00 pm sharp along with her signature antipasto salad. On weekends or holidays, Gerri loved bringing three generations of family and friends together for outside barbecues and picnics. Hosting family and friends was the highlight of her life. Gerri never hesitated to open her home, her fridge and her heart to everyone. After retirement, Gerri also enjoyed her gambling. She loved playing poker with family and friends and enjoyed many trips to the casino, where she looked forward to the energy of the blackjack table and socializing for hours with anyone who sat next to her.
Gerri’s five older siblings meant the world to her. She felt a great loss with each of their passing. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, Alexander and Leo, and her three sisters, Madeline, Mary and Yolanda. Gerri was also predeceased by her two lifelong best friends of over 70 years, Dolly Rotundo and Tina Caesar whom she dearly missed.
Gerri is survived by many dear friends from her neighborhood, as well as a large family of cherished nieces and nephews. Among them are two very special nieces, Diane and Roseann, with whom she shared a bond more like that of sisters than of aunt and nieces.
Mom,” Nana” may you be at peace now with dad “Poppy” and all your brothers and sisters. We love you forever and always.
Gerri’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday (April 26th) from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. A celebration of Gerri’s life will follow at 3:30 pm at the funeral home chapel. Private burial will be at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section BB), East Hartford at the convenience of her family. Gerri was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, so in her memory, the family would be forever grateful for any contributions made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
