

Irene (Malecky) LeRoy, 82, of East Hartford, wife of the late John W. LeRoy, Sr., peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 with her caring family by her side. Born in Hartford on February 11, 1929, a daughter of the late Stanley and Balbina (Leach) Malecky, she had resided in East Hartford for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Glastonbury High School, Class of 1947, and a long-time communicant of St. Paul's Church, Glastonbury. Irene was employed for many years by the former First Federal Savings & Loan in East Hartford in the NOW Checking Department from where she retired as a manager and officer of the bank. Irene was very active in politics in the town of East Hartford with the Democratic Town Committee. She was a past President and member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Italian/American Club in East Hartford and also enjoyed antiquing. She was an avid fan of the UCONN Men's and Women's basketball teams and a long-time loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Irene was predeceased by a son, John W. LeRoy, Jr. of Glastonbury. Irene is survived by a son, Daniel J. LeRoy and his wife, Eileen, of Niantic; a daughter, Denise L. Dombroski and her husband, Steven, of Hebron; a daughter-in-law, Lynne LeRoy Fink and her husband, Clyde, of Glastonbury; and three grandchildren, Jaclyn LeRoy of Glastonbury, Edward Dombroski and Gregory Dombroski both of Hebron. She also leaves a brother, John Malecky of Hebron; two sisters, Joanna Orzech of Glastonbury, Shirley Masterson and her husband, Edward, of New Port Richey, FL; two sisters-in-law, Mary Malecky of East Hartford, Lois Malecky of Summerfield, FL; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be Friday (November 25th) at 1 p.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 1:30 pm at St. Paul's Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, (Section B), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday afternoon from 12-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Irene's name may be made to the Hole in The Wall Gang Fund, 555 Long Warf Drive, Dept.
