Jay M. Price, Jr., aka “Jay-son”, “Jay” “Jaybird”, age 63, of Winter Haven, FL lost his battle to cancer on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Born in Hartford on June 8, 1958, a son of Jay and Barbara (Drusbacky) Price of East Hartford, he had been a resident of the East Hartford area for many years prior to moving to Winter Haven eleven years ago. He was a graduate of George J. Penney High School in East Hartford, class of 1977, and had a career in the H-Vac business for many years. One of Jay’s favorite places in Connecticut was Cotton Hollow in Glastonbury. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots. Jay loved living in sunny Florida and working part-time at Publix Supermarket, where he enjoyed meeting people and making new friends. He also liked going for rides in his golf cart, listening to music, watching the sunset, spending time at Frank’s, and calling his “Ma” and “Pa” every Wednesday. Most of all, Jay enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his beloved parents, Jay is survived by a son, Jeremiah Price and two granddaughters, Maddison and Audrinna Price of Connecticut; his daughter, Jessica (Price) Preston and her wife Mandy of Lutz, FL.; a sister Penny (Price) Manganello and her husband Mark of Glastonbury; his nephew Vincent Manganello and fiancé Sarah D'Attilio and a great-niece Sophia Manganello, and his nephew Dominic Manganello, all of Glastonbury. He also leaves a brother, Timothy Price, niece Kaitlyn Price, and great-nephew Jackson Booth all of East Hartford; his long-time friend Steven Maharen; a special cousin Donna Jean Albert; many loving cousins and dear friends. Jay was predeceased by his precious infant daughter, Jaime Lynn Price.
Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Jay’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4 – 6 pm at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
