

Jean M. (Perrault) Merrick, 68, of East Hartford, loving wife of Stephen J.Merrick, peacefully journeyed home on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on June 17, 1953, a daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Hulk) Perrault, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Jean was a graduate of George J. Penney High School in East Hartford, Class of 1971. She volunteered for many years at the gift shop at Riverside Health Care Center & Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford. She was an animal lover (especially dogs and cats) and faithfully visited area casinos. Most of all, she was a loving individual who would always open her home to friends and neighbors and was willing to help everyone. She was the love of Stephen's life and his biggest supporter, while being a proud devoted mother and grandmother.
Along with her beloved husband Stephen, she is survived by her three children, Heather J. Merrick, Shannon l. Merrick, Stephen R. Merrick and Laurie Culligan all of East Hartford; a brother, Richard Perrault of East Hartford; two sisters, Betty Perrault of Florida, Patricia Arcisz and her husband Roger of East Hartford; two special nieces and a nephew who were liker her own children, Brian Cloutier, Tracy Spada, and Brenda Cloutier; six adored grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, neighbors, and dear friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Cloutier her twin sister) and Debbie Roy both of East Hartford, and a brother, Robert Perrault of East Hartford.
A memorial service celebrating Jean's life will be Thursday (July 1, 2021) at 11:30 am at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday morning from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
