

John A. Caruso, 84, of Manchester and formerly East Hartford, beloved husband for 53 years to the late Beverly (Shane) Caruso, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, (June 12, 2012). He was born on May 30, 1928 in Forza d'Agrò, Sicily, son of the late Frank and Victoria (Villara) Caruso. John came to America at the age of two with his parents, arriving at Ellis Island by boat. He loved being a barber and owned his own shop in East Hartford for over 35 years. John enjoyed going to Old Orchard Beach each summer and fishing. In his leisure time he enjoyed Wii bowling, playing cards with his friends at White Oaks and going to the casino. He is survived by his two children, Kimberly Caruso-Poley and her husband Terry, and Derick Caruso and his wife Kathy, all of Enfield. ""Popsie"" will be dearly missed by his two grandsons, Jonathan Caruso of Woburn, MA and Nicholas Caruso of Enfield. He also leaves a brother, Frank Caruso and his wife Patricia of Cape May, NJ.
Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (June 16) at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
