

John F. Connors, 87, of East Hartford, loving husband of forty-seven years to Evelyn (Saviske) Connors, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, (February 20, 2010) with his caring family by his side. Born in Hartford on January 8, 1923, a son of the late Martin and Minnie (Galvin) Connors, John had been a resident of East Hartford since 1965. John was a graduate of Hartford Public High School. Prior to his retirement, John was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier for thirty-two years in the Greater Hartford area. John was a 50-year member of the U.S. Postal Service Union. He was a faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford and a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and UCONN Huskies. John loved gardening, 'Old Time Radio' programs, and various nostalgia items, such as trains and cars. However, John was most of all a family-oriented gentleman and a proud father and grandfather. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a sister, Mary Scanlon of Hartford. Along with his beloved wife, Evelyn, John is survived by his three devoted children, Michael J. Connors of Manchester, Carol (MacMurtry) Fish of East Hartford, Dennis S. Connors and his wife, Denise, of Vernon; one adored grandson, Brody Matthew Connors of Vernon; two special step-grandchildren, Rebecca McKnight of Manchester, Shawn Connors of Brighton, MA; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday (February 23rd) at 9 am from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday (February 22nd) from 4-7 pm.
