

John Hayden Williams, II, 91, of East Hartford, loving husband for over 63 years to Pauline L. (Organek) Williams, completed his life's journey on Monday, (January 9, 2012) with his entire family by his side. Born in Hartford on March 17, 1920, a son of the late John H. and Helen (Chizmar) Williams, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1957. John was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1938 where he was a star football player, and later played for the Hartford Spartans. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Prior to his retirement, John was employed for fifty years by Colt's Firearms in Hartford and West Hartford, retiring as a manager in the tool and die department. He was a 68-year member and retired Captain of the First Company Governor's Horse Guard of Avon and after September 11, 2001 he served on the Capitol Region Emergency Planning Committee for the Medical Reserve Corps. John was a long-time member of the Wyllys/St.John Lodge #4 A.F. & A.M. in West Hartford and always had an interest in history. He was also a camping enthusiast who enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and was a loyal dedicated fan of the UCONN Women's basketball teams. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Helen Donahue of West Hartford. Along with his beloved wife, Pauline, John is survived by two sons, John H. Williams, III of East Hartford, Michael A. Williams and his wife, Eileen, of Coventry; a daughter, Janice M. Williams and her significant other, Rob Bell, of Collinsville; two adored grandsons who were truly his joy in life, Kevin M. Williams of Coventry and John H. Williams, IV of Suffield. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Joseph Organek of Suffield; a sister-in-law, Jane Barnett of West Hartford; and a large extended family including nieces, nephews, and long-time dear friends.
Funeral services will be Friday (January 13th) at 10:30 a.m. at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at Veteran's Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (January 12th) from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the American Heart Association -CT Chapter, 5 Brookside Drive, P.O.
