

Joseph “Joe” D. Curley, 64, of Coventry and East Hartford, loving husband of over 33 years of Sandra Curley, peacefully entered into eternal life with his caring family by his side on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Born in Hartford on July 8, 1952, a son of Doris T. (Beaupre) Curley and the late Joseph J. Curley, he had resided in East Hartford for many years prior to moving to Coventry in 1989. Joe was a graduate of George J. Penney High School in East Hartford, Class of 1971, and was the Owner and Operator for several years of area Midas Muffler Shops. Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards, especially “set-back”. He also was a fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics. Most of all, Joe will be remembered as a devoted and hardworking husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who had great joy playing with his precious granddaughters and being with them as much as he could.
In addition to his beloved wife Sandra of Coventry and his mother Doris of East Hartford, Joe is survived by a daughter, Andrea C. Szerejko and her husband Christopher, of Tolland; a step-son, Michael J. Pawlowski and his wife Caroline, of Cape Coral, FL; a special brother and sister who both helped in caring for him, brother James Curley of East Hartford; sister Margaret Appel and her husband Robert, of East Hartford; two adored granddaughters, Ava and Julia Szerejko both of Tolland; three cherished nieces, Lauren, Ashley and Jennifer Appel; several aunts, uncles, cousins, customers, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday (May 27th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Private burial will be held at Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford Friday, May 26th from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe’s name may be made to the John A.
