

Kevin “Tex” John McNeil, 72, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Born in Hartford on May 13, 1953, he was a life-long resident of East Hartford and was educated in the town public school system. Prior to his retirement, “Tex” was a self-employed carpet installer for many years in the Greater Hartford area. He was an avid bicyclist who looked forward to riding his bicycle everywhere. He loved the beach where he often would go to worship the sun. He was also a fan of NASCAR and wrestling. Most of all, “Tex” loved helping others with any tasks and spending time with his loved ones.
Kevin is survived by his three daughters, Tammy Prentice and her husband Mark of New Britain, Melinda McNeil of Largo, Florida, and Samantha Brown of Palm Harbor, Florida. He also leaves his caregiver and significant other of over 28 years, Cherrie LaPointe of East Hartford with whom he made his home; Cherrie’s daughter, Nickolle Velez of East Hartford; a brother, Carl McNeil; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
