Margaret M. “Peggy” (Forgetta) Fratianni, 89, formerly of East Hartford, peacefully journeyed home to be with our Lord on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Peggy was the loving wife of 46 years of the late Joseph A. Fratianni, Sr. Born in Hartford on May 16, 1929, a daughter of the late John and Mary (DiCioccio) Forgetta, she had been a resident of the East Hartford area for over 60 years. Peggy was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1947 and was a Nurse’s Aide for several years in the area. A devout Catholic, Peggy was a faithful and former active communicant of St. Rose Church, East Harford where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Lazarus Group, and a member of the Ladies Guild. Peggy was also very proud of her Italian heritage and was known for her spaghetti sauce, cooking Italian food, and cherishing her time with her family.
Peggy is survived by a son, Joseph A. Fratianni, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Agawam, MA; a daughter, Geri Griffin and her husband, Frank, of Manchester; four grandchildren, Joe Fratianni, III of Niantic, Megan Dougherty of Arizona, Rebecah Fratianni of Washington, Zak Slavin and his wife, Elissa, of Manchester; four step-grandchildren, Kelly Dietrich and her husband, Tom, of Maryland, Corey Rankin and his wife, Kim, of Florida, Zac Griffin and his wife, Laura, of Manchester, Eric Rankin of Springfield, MA; eight great-grandchildren, Jade, Nick, Izzy, Jordan, Jack, Alivia, Dean, and Grayson; a special family friend, Laura Bordieri of Wethersfield; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents she was predeceased by a sister, Mary Forgetta and her fiancé, Eric Anderson, both of East Hartford.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (September 19, 2018) at 9 a.m. from the D’ESOPO-East Harford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Harford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Section P), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford.
