Margaret “Peggy” (O’Sullivan) Peruccio, 77, of Coventry, beloved wife of Michael T. Peruccio for over 55 wonderful years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Vernon Manor with her loving family by her side.
Born in Rockville on October 26, 1947, Peggy was the daughter of the late Florence Edward and Annie Kate (O’Hara) O’Sullivan. She grew up in East Hartford and graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester in 1965. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University in 1969. Peggy and Michael started their marriage in East Hartford and later made their home in Coventry, where they raised their family and built a life full of love and laughter.
Peggy began her career as a fifth grade teacher at Bolton Elementary School. After stepping away from the classroom to dedicate herself to raising her children, she worked for Connecticut Bank & Trust Company in East Hartford and as a math tutor at John F. Kennedy School in Windsor.
Peggy had many passions. She loved traveling, going to the beach, tending her flower gardens, baking, listening to music, and dancing any chance she got. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Peggy was known for her warmth and deep devotion to her family and friends. Her greatest joy came from being “Nana” to her five cherished grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Michael, Peggy leaves behind her son, Michael J. Peruccio and his wife Laurie of South Windsor; her daughters, Amy K. Schaffer and her husband Greg of Middlefield, and Megan B. Peruccio and her significant other James Barkyoumb of Westfield, MA. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Ava, Adam and Teddy Schaffer, and Abigail and Madison Peruccio.
She also leaves her sisters, Ann Marie “Maureen” MacKinnon of Natick, MA, and Geraldine “Gerry” Martin of Windsor; sisters-in-law, Lenora P. Jordan and her husband James of East Harford, Mary Lee Bogovic and her husband Ed of Syracuse, UT, and Rosalie Peruccio of East Hartford; as well as a special lifelong friend, Sharon Fitzgerald and her husband Kenny of Vernon. Peggy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her three brothers, Daniel O’Sullivan of Coventry, Shamus O’Sullivan of Vernon, and Roger O’Sullivan of Columbia.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (May 28th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. Maurice Church, 32 Hebron Road, Bolton. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section E), East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Wednesday morning. Peggy’s family will receive relatives and friends at the D’Esopo East Harford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Tuesday (May 27th) from 4 – 7 pm.
