
Mary E. (Scully) Becker Kampfman, 89, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late Robert L. Kampfman, passed on Monday (January 25, 2010) at the Hebrew Home & Hospital in West Hartford. Born in Yaughal, County Cork, Ireland on July 30, 1920, a daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Collins) Scully, Mary had been a resident of East Hartford since 1936. She was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1939. Mary was a faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford and enjoyed crocheting and solving crossword puzzles. Mary is survived by a caring son Robert A. Kampfman and his wife Barbara of East Hartford; a beloved daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen (Foley) Kampfman of East Hartford; eight cherished grandchildren, Robert Kampfman and his wife, Laura of Bolton, David Kampfman of East Hartford, Kristine Werho and her husband Terry of Bethlehem, GA, Tina Kampfman of South Windsor, Julie Gelsomino and her husband, Al of East Windsor, Stacie Kampfman, Kylene Kampfman and Tricia Kampfman, all of East Hartford; six special great-grand-children, Michelle and Shawn Urban, Melissa Kemp, Terran Werho, Shea and Seth Gelsomino; and several great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband, Robert, a 37-year veteran of the East Hartford Fire Department where he was also a paramedic for 11 years, Mary was also predeceased by a son Thomas C. Kampfman of East Hartford; her adopted parents who were her aunt and uncle, Joseph and Letty Becker of East Hartford, and two brothers, Maurice Becker of South Windsor and John Becker of Simsbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours are Friday morning, just prior to leaving for the church from 9-10 a.m. at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St. East Hartford.
