

Nicholas “Nick” E. Carucci, Jr., 90, of East Hartford, beloved husband for 68 years of Rosemarie (Sitaro) Carucci, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Born in Hartford on January 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Nicholas Carucci and Catherine (DeFeo) Carucci. Nick was a 1950 graduate of Weaver High School. He was a proud Korean War veteran in the 43rd National Guard Infantry Division that was federalized in 1950. Nick retired from Scan Optics, Inc. in Manchester, where he worked for 27 years in various management positions, including Assembly Manager and Manufacturing Engineering. Nick was an ASA softball umpire for 20 years in the Greater Hartford area and while living in Windsor, he managed and umpired in the Senior Baseball League for seven years. He and Rosemarie were avid “Mall Walkers,” where they made many friends and “solved the problems of the world” over coffee. Nick also enjoyed playing golf for more than 50 years and loved his two Lhasa Apsos, Winker and Kobe.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Nick will be forever missed by his devoted wife Rosemarie; his two children, Richard N. Carucci of Wethersfield and Lori Phillips and husband Carl of Groton, MA; his adored granddaughter, Ashley Melling and husband Blake of South Windsor and two cherished great-grandsons, Hunter and Leo Melling. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Special thanks to the staff of Addison Place, the Villages and Buckingham Heights for the care and compassion shown to Nick.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday, October 22 at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
