

Prudence “Prudy” E. (Andrews) Hodder, 84, of South Windsor and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully journeyed home to be with Our Lord on Friday, September 11, 2015 with her caring family by her side at Hartford Hospital. Prudy was the loving wife of over 54 years of the late Burton L. Hodder. Born in Hartford on January 25, 1931, a daughter of the late David and Edna (Whittaker) Andrews, she had resided in East Hartford for over 30 years prior to moving to South Windsor 12 years ago. Prudy was a graduate of William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, Class of 1949. She was a faithful member for 50 years at South Congregational Church, East Hartford where she was a member of the Choir, a former Sunday School instructor, and served and volunteered on several committees. She was a member of the Ellington Senior Choir, the Norden Lodge #1 in Newington, and volunteered at the Flax Hill Senior Community in South Windsor. Prudy also enjoyed painting, sewing, dancing and loved to cook and bake (especially cakes). Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted wife, proud mother, and grandmother who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Prudence is survived by two sons, Keith Hodder of North Granby, Daniel Hodder and his wife, Lynn, of Vernon; four daughters, Susan (Krause) Rosenthal and her husband, Daniel, of South Windsor, Deborah Rataic and her husband, Christopher, of Windsor Locks, Margaret Glorch of Middletown, RI, Bonnie Ricci and her husband, Raymond, of South Windsor. She also leaves two brothers, Walter Andrews and his wife, Patsy, of Hurst, TX, Russell Andrews and his wife, Kathy, of Unionville; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Andrews of Farmington, Joan Hodder of Glastonbury; a former son-in-law, John Krause of Vernon; 21 cherished grandchildren, John and Tatum Krause, Heidi Krause, Brian and Tristin Krause, Joshua Rosenthal and his fiancée Meghan Clancey, Carie Colello, Sarah Hodder, Keith and Liz Hodder, David Hodder, Ryan Hodder, Michaela Bagnall, Chris and Andrea Rataic, Robyn and Kate Rataic, Justin Hodder, Amber, John, Nick, and Chris Nolan, Jenna, Jaclyn, AJ, and Christina Ricci; 12 adored great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy McNamara of East Hartford and Shirley Cannon of Farmington; a brother, David Andrews of Farmington.
Please join Prudy’s family on Saturday (September 19th) to celebrate Prudence’s life at 11 am at South Congregational Church, 1301 Forbes Street, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning). There will be a reception immediately following the service in Charrier Hall at South Congregational Church where the family will be available to visit with relatives and friends. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
