

Rachael Lee Homar, 40, of New Britain, unexpectedly entered into eternal life on Friday, June 9, 2023 in New Britain from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born in Hartford on February 10, 1983 she had resided in New Britain for most of her life. She was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 2001. A woman of strong faith, Rachael was a member of Crossroads Community Cathedral in East Hartford. A caregiver at heart, she was employed for many years as a home health aide by The Key Home Care Assistance Company. She enjoyed volunteering with her daughter’s girl scouts troop, traveling throughout the country with her family, and caring for everyone she knew. Rachael was a fabulous cook who liked sharing meals with those she knew, and was known for her contagious smile who gave hugs to everyone.
Rachael is survived by her mother, Ramona Baez and her husband Domingo Homar of Manchester; her father, Benito Berdecia and his wife Mia Berdecia of Middletown; her son, Shakur Torres of Manchester; her daughter, Jeanette Torres of Manchester; two brothers, Raymond Homar of Manchester, Matthew Berdecia of Middletown; three sisters, Gina Berdecia of Manchester, Maleena and Makayle Berdecia both of Middletown; one niece, Skyla; one nephew, Sebastian; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Thursday (June 22, 2023) at 12 noon at the Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford with Pastor Luke Monahan officiating. A calling hour will be Thursday morning from 11 am to 12 noon at the cathedral. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
