

Richard 'Dick' DeAngelis, 76, of East Hartford, most loving husband of 56 years to Dee (DeDonato) DeAngelis, peacefully passed away on Saturday (January 10, 2009), at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY on March 28, 1932, a son of the late August and Angelina DeAngelis, he resided in East Hartford for the past 47 years. Dick graduated from Embry Riddle School of Aviation in Florida and from the University of Hartford with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. A proud U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he was stationed in Laon, France. Prior to his retirement, Dick was employed for 38 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Co., East Hartford until transferring to Turbo Power Marine (TPM) in Farmington. Dick enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards with his buddies. He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford and was active in the church Retirees Club. Dick was a member of the Army/Navy Club in Manchester and was also the founder and the annual coordinator of the Reunion for employees and retirees of TPM. Along with his beloved wife, Dee, Dick leaves two daughters, Diane DeAngelis Brittain and her fiancé Patrick Cherry of El Dorado, CA, Dana A. Tierinni and her husband, Joseph (who was like a son to Dick) of East Hartford; two special grandsons who were the light of his life, Joseph Richard Tierinni and Christopher James Tierinni both of East Hartford; two brothers, Paul DeAngelis and his wife, Joan, of Baltimore, MD, John DeAngelis and his wife, Fran, of Carmel, NY; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be Friday (January 16) at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Veteran's Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
