Samantha Sam Welch

Samantha “Sam” Welch, 34, of East Hartford, loving daughter of Susan C. (Alexander) and Max R. Welch, went home to be with God on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at her home. Born in Newport, RI on April 19, 1979 she was a life-long resident of East Hartford. Sam was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1997 and had been employed in the family business, Roofs By Welch of East Hartford. Sam was a talented jewelry maker and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon. Besides her beloved parents, Sam is survived by a son, Benjamin Steven Usher of Windsor Locks; a step-daughter, Nicole Usher of Windsor Locks; four brothers, David R. Welch and his wife, Melanie, of Tolland, Douglas M. Welch, Max F. Welch, and James D. Welch all of East Hartford; a sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Whittaker and her husband, Wayne, of Cumming, GA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday (November 4th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, May Road/Brandon Road, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Monday morning). Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Sam’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday afternoon (November 3rd) from 2-4 pm at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Samantha’s name may be made to Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford, CT 06118.
