

Thomas L. “Tom” Pearson, Sr., 77, of East Hartford, loving husband of over 47 years of the late Barbara Ann (Szymkiewicz) Pearson, passed away peacefully with his two caring children by his side on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. Born in San Francisco, CA on March 11, 1946, a son of the late Thomas and Laura (Gionfriddo) Pearson, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 47 years. Tom was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a member of the DAV. After retiring from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Tom was a School Crossing Guard for many years for the Board of Education in East Hartford.
A devout catholic, Tom was a faithful communicant of the former Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. He was an avid fisherman, billiards player, card player, and liked playing games especially “Scrabble” and “Cribbage”. A talented chef, he loved cooking dinners throughout the year (especially at holidays) for his family and friends to enjoy. Most of all, Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family and supporting his grandchildren at their sporting games and school activities.
Tom is survived by a son, Thomas L. Pearson, Jr. and his wife Traci of East Hartford; a daughter, Heather L. Pearson of East Hartford; five adored grandchildren, Jordan Pearson, Zackary Pearson and his fiancée Leslie, Jacob Pearson, Sara Pearson, and Hailey Santiago all of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by a brother, Kenny Pearson of Enfield.
Funeral service will be Saturday (October 21, 2023) at 10:30 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Field #2 – Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning from 9 -10:30 am.
