Tillie (Cecchini) DiTomaso, 93, of East Hartford, loving wife of 45 years of the late Joseph J. DiTomaso, Sr., peacefully journeyed home to be with her husband on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Lauro, province of Caserta, Italy on November 5, 1927, a daughter of the late Peter and Lena (Morra) Cecchini, she had been a resident of East Hartford for over 55 years. A devout catholic, Tillie was a communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford and faithfully watched the daily mass on television every day. She was a member of the East Hartford Senior Center and enjoyed watching “Jeopardy” and UConn basketball. Proud of her Italian heritage, Tillie loved cooking and was known for her famous sauce and Italian dishes. Working in retail most of her life, Tillie liked shopping and was a frequent shopper of QVC and HSN. She also liked traveling and cherished her trips to Italy and Hawaii. Most of all, Tillie was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who adored her time with her entire family.
Tillie is survived by her two devoted sons, Joseph J. DiTomaso, Jr. and his wife Valerie of Manchester, Richard F. DiTomaso and his wife Deborah of Hebron; a sister, Lucy Gallian of Prospect; four special grandchildren, Christie DiTomaso of Rocky Hill, Amanda DiTomaso, Andrew DiTomaso of Glastonbury, and Carie McPherson. She also leaves several dear nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Tillie was predeceased by two brothers, Freddy Cecchini and Pasquale “Pat” Cecchini both of East Hartford, and a sister, Mary Abromovitch.
Honoring Tillie’s wishes, a graveside service celebrating Tillie’s life will be Friday (August 27, 2021) at 11:30 am at Rose Hill Memorial Park, (Section 19), Elm Street, Rocky Hill. There are no calling hours. (Everyone is asked to go directly to the gravesite on Friday morning). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tillie’s name may be made to the Friends of the East Hartford Senior Center, c/o East Hartford Town Hall, 740 Main Street, East Hartford, CT 06108. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford have been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
