
Dr. Urban Edward Kuntz, 76, of East Hartford, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, (May 12, 2007) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Devils Lake, ND, a son of the late Urban C. and Theresa (Eisenzimmer) Kuntz, he had resided in East Hartford for over forty-five years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Urban was employed for thirty years by UTC Research Labs, East Hartford as a Physical Chemist. Urban was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Research Lab ten-pin Bowling League in East Hartford, and a faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. Urban enjoyed ice hockey and was a long-time season-ticket holder and dedicated fan of the former Hartford Whalers hockey team. He was also a fan of both the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox baseball teams. Whenever Urban had time, he would enjoy reading and watching the History Channel. Besides his beloved parents his brother, William Kuntz of Minnesota, predeceased him. Urban is survived by his sister, Genevieve Motzko and her children, Bernadette, David, Duane, Benita, and Donald Motzko, and Barbara Roder all of Minnesota; his sister-in-law, Vivian Kuntz and her children, Jeffrey Kuntz and Valerie Anderson all of Minnesota. Urban is also survived by his long-time dear and caring friends, the Byrnes family, Margaret ""Peg"" Byrnes of East Hartford, Mary Helen McSwiney of Newington, Elizabeth Matherly of Reno, NV, Barbara Unger of Reeds Port, OR, Patricia L. Byrnes of East Hartford, Michael Byrnes of Worthington, MA, William ""Billy"" Byrnes of South Windsor and all of their children. Funeral service will be Saturday, (May 19th) at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at Veteran's Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m.to 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Urban's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford, CT, 06108.
