Valerie “Val” J. Whiterock, 60, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, October 1, 2022 with her beloved Jack Russell Terriers, Infinity and Fresca by her side. Born on Friday, April 13, 1962 in Hartford, Wisconsin, she was the beloved daughter of Janice (LaMarre) Whiterock of Torrington and the late George Whiterock, Sr. Val excelled in school and was a 1984 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry. She was employed by and retired from Bristol Myers Squibb with over 20 years of service as a Pharmaceutical Research Scientist.
Val was the second of five children and is survived by her brother, George “Russ” Whiterock and his partner Barbara Martin of Colebrook, her sister, Trisha Whiterock of New Britain and her brother, Troy Whiterock and his wife Tanya of Torrington. She was also the loving aunt to Amy and Joshua Whiterock, Jacob Whiterock and Jardena Dupee and great-aunt to Tre and Tessa. Val was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Whiterock. Val spent the most part of her adult life training her dogs in the sports of Flyball, Barn Hunt and Agility, which extended her family across the U.S., Canada and Europe. Val is eternally playing these sports with Benny, Spritzer and Vortex without pain and with a huge smile on her face.
Val’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday October 11, from 5-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at 12 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut Street, Torrington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made via PayPal to: [email protected].
