Wendy Ellen Wolf, 55, of Alexander City, AL and formerly of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Russell Medical Center in Alexander City, AL from a sudden heart attack. Born in Manchester on September 6, 1970, a daughter of Charles H. “Fritz” and Judith A. (Whitcomb) Wolf, she had been a lifelong resident of East Hartford prior to moving to Alabama 10 months ago. Wendy was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1988 and St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, class of 1992 where she earned her B.S. degree in both Special Education and Regular Education.
Wendy was employed as a private Home Health Aid for over 30 years for the former Network, Inc., Tri-County Arc, and GT Independence. Wendy was a “people person” who would always think of others and want to help those in need. An avid outdoors individual, Wendy enjoyed camping, going to the beach, traveling, and going on cruises. She liked all sports, especially pro wrestling and was an avid loyal fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Boston Red Sox and the UConn Huskies. She especially looked forward to Halloween and dressing up in the most elaborate costumes every year. She even continued to go out “trick or treating” in her home neighborhood to age 54. Most of all, Wendy was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and caregiver who cherished every moment spent with her entire family.
In addition to her parents, Fritz and Judith of East Hartford, Wendy is survived by her brother, Ken C. Wolf and his wife Erin of South Windsor; and one adored nephew, Daniel E. Wolf of South Windsor. She also leaves her uncle, Jack Whitcomb and his wife Pat of Manchester; her boyfriend, Greg Dame of Alexander City, AL; several cousins, and dear friends.
A memorial visitation period celebrating Wendy’s life will be Wednesday (April 29, 2026) from 4 – 7 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. (All those attending are asked to please wear your favorite sports team jersey.) In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you please do an act of kindness to someone in Wendy’s memory. As Wendy would say during football season “GO BIRDS”! For on-line expressions of sympathy to the family, please visit www.desopoeh.com
