

Doug(las) Grozier. Born 3/30/1951 in Dallas, Tx - DOD: 12/13/2022 in Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Tx. He was raised by his parents: Raymon & Joy Grozier now deceased. The family were active in the Baptist Church. Doug is the eldest, having a brother Rick (Richard Elex Grozier (wife) Mary & an adopted sister, Melissa, now deceased. Doug has 2 daughters with his first wife Vickie Purcell & they reside in Cameron, Ok: 1. Crystal Joy married to Mark Phillips & 3 children/Doug's grandchildren: Robin who died a few hrs after her birth, then 3 living: Amber, Eddie & Tory. 2nd daughter Rae married to Donald Duncan & 2 children: Hoss & Jae. His eldest nephew (son of his brother Rick) passed away 12/10/2022 just 3 days before Doug. Surviving nephew, "Chris"topher married to Jessica & several children.
Doug graduated from Duncanville High School then served in the US Marine Corps Reserve for 12 years in a Helicopter maintenance squadron. He worked in construction, later as a Director of Maintenance in Nursing homes. He married Eileene Madrid in 1992 when he was working in Colorado. The couple traveled to Hawaii and several Recreational Vehicle trips. Upon retirement the couple came to the Houston area to assist niece, Moriah & husband Steve with child care for their 3 daughters: Thalia, Xara and Amora. Doug would often attend chair yoga classes with instructor Moriah until his illness prevented him from attending. Doug enjoyed woodworking/carpentry & gardening. He was a volunteer Firefighter & Emergency Medical Technician in New Mexico. The couple, Doug & Eileene were in several theatrical plays in Albuquerque, NM. He was also a bull rider in rodeos in his younger years. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America & was on the Color Guard Team. He had a great sense of humor. Doug also was a member of the Vietnam War Flight Museum.
When we lived in Los Chavez/Belén, NM, there was a young gal whose parent worked. She spent a lot of time with us & played with my niece Ronnie, nephew, Matthew & niece Moriah. She continued the relationship with us. This young lady now has a family of her own. For many years now she adopted us as her 2nd parents & calls Doug, “Dad”. Her name is Rebecca Tafoya and now has a family of her own.
Honorary Pallbearers will be; Rudy Escajeda, Andy Sosa, Hector Vasquez, George Arredondo, Candelario Calderón and Joe Ortiz.
Visitation for Doug will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Prayer Service at 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, TX. 79903. Committal service to follow on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Ft Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. El Paso, TX 79906.
