Our mother Queta was a loving and generous woman who always had her doors open to family and friends, literaly, she never locked her doors. If you didn't find her inside she was in her backyard gardening, she loved her rose bushes and her fruit trees. She wasn't crazy about animals but she didn't stop us from having numerous dogs, horses, chickens, a cow and a goat that use to eat the clothes off the clothes line.
She loved entertaining and sharing her home with family and friends.
Anyone could drop in at a moments notice and she would whip up a meal. Countless weddings and celebrations were held in their back yard like the Samaniego Family Chili cook off, which she won second prize. Most parties were never catered no matter how many attended. Most of all she loved entertaining her brothers and sisters where if you were ever in the same room as her and her siblings you knew it was impossible to get a word in edgewise. Her Faith was strong and she prayed the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily.
My oldest sister Martha opened her home to our parents and made sure that she or my niece Leigha and myself were always there to look out for them. For the past 5 years all of the out of town family members took their vacations to help with my parents. My brother David would build, repair, replace, paint whatever was needed to make mom comfortable and my sister Camille would make meals that were unforgettable and cookies that Mom would love. My daughter Angelica would come on weekends and would try to get Grandma to take her Naps. And I was in charge of keeping Mom on her toes with her wit and one liners and sneaking in her sweets
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren loved her dearly and made sure she knew and she made each one of them feel her love and that they were special too. So much so that each one thought that they were her favorite.
Her family will miss her dearly but she is at peace with the love of her life Manny. Manny and Queta shared a love like no other, they adored each other. They were always holding hands and sharing kisses.
They taught us that family was everything and to be grateful with what you have and to love unconditionally. They will remain a shining light in all who knew them.
We would like to thank her caretakers Eliza Martinez, Lucy Macias and Zulema Miramontes for taking such good care of our Mom, she was so appreciative and loved them dearly.
