She was a proud 1949 graduate of El Paso High School. After high school she attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. She married her one true and only love of 65 years at the age of 23 in October of 1954. She was the epitome of a classy woman . She was a woman of few words. She always said, " if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all ." She smiled at all. She always said, please, thank you and God bless you. She did not swear. She held up her head but never her nose at anyone. She was not fast to anger or judge. She always was well groomed. "A lady never leaves the house without lipstick or earrings." She loved God, her family, and her garden. She led by example and lived by her word. She worked hard at her husband's side always. She cared for her family and others unselfishly. She fed most who came through the front door.
She was one of the eldest children of Albino Velasquez and Francisca Maya. She is preceded in death by her husband Felipe Roberto Martinez. She is survived by daughter Tessie Moton (Allen), granddaughter Danielle Moton ( the blessing and twinkle of her eye), her sister Rita Garibay (Ret. Col. Raul Garibay), Velia Bonilla (Jesus), Gloria Zubiate (George), Emila Velasquez (Armando), Sister and brother in laws: Anita Martinez, Elena Garcia (Joe), Mage Guerrero (Chava), Carlos Gonzalez (Tiny), Arturo Martinez (Jan), Hector Martinez (Rachel) and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
