

Lorenzo “Sam” Hernandez, Sr. peacefully left for his eternal home on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born and raised in El Paso. TX, by his loving parents, Senon & Cruz Hernandez. A very proud graduate of Bowie High School, class of 1960. Always a true “Bear”. Worked at Popular Dry Goods under his mentor, Hicks Tejeda. He also worked at Phelps Dodge Copper Refinery and retired from EPISD Warehouse Services as a delivery truck driver. He was a great husband, married to his loving wife, Dolores Correa Hernandez for 53 years. He was also a wonderful father and an adoring “Grandpa”. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, sons Lorenzo S. (Sonia), Robert S. (Christina), Javier R. (Danielle) and daughter, Rebecca Hernandez Houlahan, grandchildren, Samantha J. Hernandez, Erin Houlahan, Sean Houlahan, Riana Houlahan, A.J. Hernandez, Ian Houlahan, Jayden R. Hernandez and Jay D. Hernandez. Several nieces and nephews. We know you are at peace and no longer suffering. We will never forget the love you shared with us in many, many ways. We thank the Lord for allowing you to be a special part of our lives. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave. with the Vigil at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
