She was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas and was employed during her early adult life at El Paso Testing Laboratories. Later during her marriage, she worked for over 23 years in food preparation at Western Vending where due to her vast knowledge and love of cooking, she introduced a number of new food products. She goes now to share her eternal life with her parents, Lucio and Margarita P. Flores, her brothers Cipriano and Rodrigo Flores, and her husband of over 50 years, Juan Lopez. She is survived by her brothers, Felipe Flores (Mary †) and Enrique Flores (Dora), and her sisters, Manuela Pacheco, (Felipe) and Antonia Avila (Andy †). She is also survived by her sons, Arturo (Laura), Juan Jr. (Isela), Gilbert (Naomi), and David (Birgit), along with 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A visit to her home would likely find her in her kitchen cooking and singing. You were most certainly going to share a meal before leaving and she would then welcome you as part of her family. While so many memories are centered on gatherings with family and friends in the kitchen and the huge den, it was her love of the simple things in life that made her so special. Something as simple as sitting in the backyard roasting green chile on the grill would bring her so much joy.
A visitation for Lucia will be held, Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary 7:00 pm at Del Angel Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave. Funeral Mass will be Friday, December 15th at 10:00 am, at St. Joseph’s Church, 3729 Hueco Ave with interment to follow in Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd. Santa Teresa, NM.
The Lopez family would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks and sincerest appreciation to the staff at Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation for all of their hard work and dedication. Their professionalism and dedication made this most difficult part of her journey so much easier.
