

Luz L. Lerma, 84, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. She was born on June 28, 1941, in Naranjito, Puerto Rico to Carmelo Vazquez and Arcadia Torres. Lucita, as she was affectionately known, had a strong foundation grounded in the Catholic faith and was very devout of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She will be remembered for her passion for arts and crafts, gardening, and traveling. Luz always kept her native homeland in mind and visited as often as she could. Luz met Mr. Isabel Lerma in New York and on July 8, 1963, they would be joined in matrimony, remaining together for 64 years. Their life journey enabled them to become parents, eventually welcoming Elizabeth, Magda, German, and Johanna Lerma. Luz became a grandmother with the arrival of Daniel and Jon Montijo, Tatianna and Breanna Jimenez, and Dannika Lerma. Lucita was also a great grandmother to Selena and Elara Montijo. She leaves behind countless memories that will remain with those whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 11 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East, 12400 Montana, El Paso, Texas, 79938. Mass of Christian Burial will also be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2026, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini at 2pm. Services will conclude thereafter.
