

Manuel “Manny” W. Vera, 90, of El Paso, Texas passed on, Saturday , August 18, 2012. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 23, at Calvary Chapel El Paso, 1771 North Zaragosa, El Paso, Texas 79936. Military burial will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Our beloved Staff Sergeant is a decorated WWII Veteran with a Purple Heart Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with 3 bronze service stars and a Good Conduct Medal. Born and raised in Bayard, Nebraska, and after his tour in the Army, he moved with his family to southwest to pursue a lifelong carrier in civil service at White Sands Missile Range. Son of the late Manuel and Margarita Vera, husband of Natalie Flores Vera, father of Nicholas (Monica) and Nadine, grandfather of Korey, Cicely, Jacob and Katelyn, great-grandfather of Dimitrio, Mykel and Roman. He is also survived by four brothers and one sister. Our strong, silent soldier will live in our hearts every day.
