Marion Frances Adams (Weiss) passed away peacefully in her home on April 2, 2016. A long time resident of El Paso, she spent her childhood in Omaha, NE. She was the only child of Carl and Anna Weiss (Kraijicek), both immigrants from Europe in the early 1900’s. In 1950, Marion married Phillip Eugene Adams (1925-1989), and they raised their three daughters, Linda Susan, Cynthia Ann (1953-2001), and Carol Ann Adams-Warnotte. She is also survived by her son-in-law Bruno Warnotte and her grandson, Samuel Adams-Warnotte, of Montreal. She has many friends, both old and new, who will miss her dearly.
A lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, she has many ‘sisters’ whom have preceded her in death. Marion was also an active volunteer for the Special Olympics for many decades, a member of The Ballet Guild for the University Civic Ballet, Ballet El Paso and Toastmasters. In her early adult years, she worked as a legal secretary for the law firm Edwards, Belk, Hunter and Kerr. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic church and counted on her parish ‘family’ for moral and spiritual support. Their weekly smiles and hugs nourished her happiness.
Marion’s greatest dedication was to her two special daughters, Linda and Cynthia, to whom she was an active and dedicated mother for 65 years. She raised her daughters to be proud citizens of El Paso, and to carry on her legacy of strength, courage, perseverance and optimism. She held these values dear until her last moments.
Visitation services will be held Sunday evening April 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 3839 Montana. A funeral mass will take place on Monday at 9:15 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic church, followed by interment service at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
As per her wishes, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Area 19 Special Olympics, 310 N. Mesa, suite 400, El Paso, TX 79901.
