Even though he and I were not close during my younger years, after  some time passed I aged and grew up and was able to talk and visit with my father while having an open mind and heart.  I am thankful for the time I was able to speak with him and spend time in El Paso,  with Dad and Nellie. We bonded over our passion for classic muscle cars and old westerns.  It was fulfilling to have him in our lives and having my children, his grand children, know him and to see my roots and where I grew up.    

As we walk through life, we meet many people. Dad seemed never to meet a stranger, wherever we went; someone knew or knew of him. When Dad was out and about shopping, he was known to stop and study things and was not afraid to push buttons. It seemed like he relished the idea of pushing buttons to find out what would happen next. Throughout the years we would have some deep conversations, however brief he would always leave us asking for more knowledge. To his credit I have never experienced him speaking ill of anyone. Dad will be missed.
