Orville D. (Bud) Jackson, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great- grandfather passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 78. Bud was born in Carbondale, Illinois on March 13,1947. He was a beloved member of the LDS Church in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, where he loved to lead worship music. Music was always a huge part of Bud’s life. Bud was in the band at Paschal High School. He loved singing and was in a Barbershop Quartet when he lived in Abilene, New Orleans, and Orlando. Bud was a square dance caller in Fort Worth and El Paso.
Bud began his career in 1967 with the US Air Force, where he was a Staff Sergeant and moved about every 2 years throughout his career working in hospitals as a biomedical engineer. During their 30 years of marriage, Bud and Cici lived in El Paso TX, Fort Worth TX, Manhattan NY, Eau Claire WI, Junction City, KS, Harlingen TX, and Angleton TX before retiring to Cloudcroft, NM. Bud was a square dance caller in Fort Worth and El Paso. After many years of square-dancing, Bud and Cici picked up a new hobby and began bowling. They bowled on teams in New York, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Texas.
Bud Jackson is preceded in death by his father, Orville D. Jackson Sr., mother, Ruth Irene Tellor Rafferty, and wife Cecilia “Cici” Jackson. Bud is survived by his daughters Kim Axtell and husband Jay, Tracy Peck and husband Dave, Michelle Kirby and wife Rebecca, bonus daughters Barbara Washington and husband Warren, Beverly Ortiz and husband David, sisters Ruth Ann Butler and Teressa Williams, 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Bud will be on Wednesday April 9, 2025, from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903. Graveside will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave., El Paso Texas, 79906.
