Paul Eric Wimberly was born on December 13, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Mary (Wyatt) Wimberly and Floyd Alexander Wimberly Sr. Paul attended Schools 37 and 58 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School (“Tech”) in Indianapolis, Indiana.
While at Tech, Paul minored in ROTC, which encouraged him to pursue a career in the military. Paul was the youngest son of eleven children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Floyd Wimberly Sr., Terrelle Eugene “Terry” Wimberly, David Jerone “Bemo” Wimberly, and Iris Wimberly Smith.
Paul worked for a short time at his neighborhood store, Samuel’s Supermarket. In 1982, he joined the United States Army National Guard, where he served honorably for 18 years. While in service, he made his home in El Paso, Texas. Paul worked at several restaurant establishments. In 1990-1997 he worked at Village Inn then Olive Garden. 1997-1999 Jaxon Brewery and Grill Co. 2000 he started working at The Yellow Rose Cafe till it closed down in 2004. Then he went to work at Cattle Barons till 2012. From 2013-2026 he was employed at Hooters then ended work at Ojos Locos 2023 2026.
During his life, Paul met and married Sonya. From this union in 1986, one son was born, Paul Eric Wimberly Jr. He was also blessed with a daughter, Sara Christine Vasquez, from another relationship Paul had a special love and relationship with Tanika and Takeshia White (daughters of Sonya), and their children—Kaden, Ava, and Roman—whom he loved dearly as part of his family. He also shared a loving connection with his extended family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Paul Eric Wimberly Jr. and daughters, Sara Christine Vasquez, Tanika and Takeshia White; his siblings: Phyllis Clay, Joyce Robinson Sharp, Floyd Alexander Wimberly II, Richard Allen Sr., Thomas Lydell (Jill), Rhonda Wimberly Alvies (Dale), and Vicki Wimberly Brown (Darryl). He is also survived by one living uncle, Rev. Calvin Wimberly. Paul was a great-great-great uncle, a beloved cousin, and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with military honors at 6:30 pm and a funeral service at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903.
