Rosa Imelda Cardenas

1957 – 2025

Rosa Imelda Cárdenas falleció el 9 de julio de 2025, tras una dura pero digna batalla, rodeada del amor de su familia. Nació el 13 de mayo de 1957 en Torreón, Coahuila, México, hija de Gustavo Cárdenas Galván y Rosa María Cárdenas Reyes. A lo largo de su vida, Imelda fue un ejemplo de cariño, calidez y fortaleza silenciosa.

Antes de convertirse en enfermera, Imelda vivió un tiempo en la Ciudad de México, donde trabajó junto a su hermano en la farmacia familiar. Ahí adquirió valiosos conocimientos médicos que más adelante la llevarían a convertirse en la “mujer medicina” de la familia, aquella a quien todos acudían cuando necesitaban cuidados o alivio.

Estudió medicina y ejerció como enfermera en México antes de mudarse con su familia a El Paso, Texas. En su nuevo hogar, se convirtió en el corazón del núcleo familiar: una fuente constante de apoyo, fortaleza y amor. Cada vez que alguien necesitaba atención, era natural recurrir a ella. Su toque sereno y su presencia firme hacían que uno se sintiera en una clínica personal, llena de cuidado, calidez y, por supuesto, muchas risas.

También fue una cocinera excepcional, con un sazón que pocos podían igualar. Sus comidas reunían a la familia, y su cocina siempre estuvo impregnada de aromas y recuerdos que viviremos por siempre. Pero por encima de todo, Imelda vivía con una profunda entrega hacia su familia. Fue ferozmente leal y se sentía inmensamente orgullosa de sus hermanos, sobrinas, sobrinos y las nuevas generaciones.

Aunque su presencia física nos hará falta más de lo que se puede expresar, su energía, pasión y enseñanzas seguirán vivas en cada uno de nosotros. Nos reconforta saber que sigue cuidándonos desde otro plano, guiándonos con la misma fuerza que nos dio en vida.

Imelda fue precedida en muerte por su padre, Gustavo Cárdenas Galván; su madre, Rosa María Cárdenas Reyes; y su hermano mayor, Gustavo Cárdenas. Le sobreviven sus hermanas Rosa, Teresa y Rita; sus hermanos Juan, Enrique, Martín, Roberto y Antonio; así como muchas sobrinas, sobrinos, y sobrinos nietos que la adoraban profundamente.

La ceremonia para celebrar su vida se llevará a cabo el 17 de julio de 2025 a partir de las 8 a.m. en Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East localizada en 12400 E. Montana, El Paso, Texas 79938. Toda persona que haya sido parte del camino de Imelda está cordialmente invitada a acompañarnos para honrar su memoria y compartir un último momento de amor mientras la despedimos con cariño hacia su próxima travesía.

In Loving Memory of Rosa Imelda Cárdenas

1957 – 2025

Rosa Imelda Cárdenas passed away after a hard and proud fight on July 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico on May 13, 1957, to Gustavo and Rosa Cárdenas, Imelda carried a deep sense of care, warmth, and quiet strength throughout her life.

Before becoming a nurse in Mexico, Imelda spent time in Mexico City, where she worked with her brother at the family pharmacy, gaining medical knowledge that she would use to become the family’s medicine woman.

Imelda studied medicine and practiced as a nurse in Mexico before moving with her family to El Paso, Texas. There, she became the heart of the household, a constant source of strength and support. Whenever someone needed care, we instinctively turned to her. With a calm touch and strong presence, she made you feel like you were in your own personal clinic, one full of love and laughter.

She was also a remarkable cook, with a sazón few could rival. Her meals brought the family together, and her kitchen was always filled with the aromas and stories that we’ll never forget. More than anything, Imelda was devoted to her family. She was fiercely loyal and deeply proud of her siblings, nieces, nephews, and their children.

Though her physical presence will be missed beyond words, her energy, passion and many lessons will live on in each of us. We find comfort in knowing that she is still watching over us, guiding us with the same strength she gave in life.

Imelda is preceded in death by her father Gustavo Cardenas Galvan, her mother Rosa Maria Cardenas Reyes and her older brother Gustavo Cardenas. She is survived by her sisters, Rosa, Teresa, and Rita and her brothers, Juan, Enrique, Martin, Roberto, and Antonio, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East, 12400 E. Montana, El Paso, Texas 79938. All who were ever part of Imelda’s journey are warmly invited to join us in honoring her memory and sharing one last moment of love as we send her off on her next adventure.
