Santiago Casas, 60, known to loved ones as "Baby", "Casas", "Jimmy", and "Daddy Santiago", was called to heaven on April 3, 2024. Born and raised in El Paso, Santiago attended Bowie High School. He received an Associate's Degree from El Paso Community College. His passion for his country enabled him to dedicate 21 years of service to the Navy. Santiago went on to have a fulfilling career with AT&T, which lasted 25 years. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a great, all around, handyman. When family and friends needed help, he was always there. If he did not know how to fix something, he would find out and get the job done. Santiago was a remarkable husband and dedicated father. Among his favorite roles in life was that of being a father.
Santiago was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Alejandrina Casas and by his sister, Maria Luisa Hernandez. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lilia Casas, with whom he enjoyed a total of 44 years. Santiago is also survived by his pride and joy; daughters, Sophia and Stephanie. He is survived by his brothers, Salvador, Jr. and Miguel Casas; sisters, Ofelia and Elisa Casas, Irene Lara, and Celia Castro as well as many nieces and nephews.
Santiago will always be remembered for his big heart, kindness, generosity, and support of friends and family. He was someone who could always be counted on. Santiago's sense of humor and love of jokes brought many smiles, but also got him into trouble at times. He will forever be missed but never forgotten. Santiago's love will continue and we know he will always be watching over his family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 12400 Montana, 79938. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 12200 Vista Del Sol, 79936 with services concluding thereafter.
