Selsa Gavaldon Reyes

Selsa Gavaldón Reyes born January 7, 1917 was taken by our Lord December 25, 2013. Sally (Nona) was a native El Pasoan and was the sixth of nine children. She was a graduate of El Paso High School and attended Texas Western College. She retired from William Beaumont Army Medical Center after 32 years, the last number of years having served as the Deputy Chief of the Finance Department. Sally worked her way up from a clerical worker, to the position never before held by a female, let alone a Hispanic female. She was truly a woman ahead of her time. Sally was preceded in death by her husband Luis Reyes Jaquez. She is survived by a loving family that consists of her two daughters Carmen Reyes Telles (Raymond) and Edna Reyes-Wilson (Eddie), four grandchildren Edythe Marie and Julio Payán, Celeste Payán Parrott (Jason), and Felipe Wilson, two great-grandchildren Sarah and Chloe Parrott, and her one living sibling, Alma Shaffer in California. Nona lived a full and happy life enjoying time with her friends and family and extensive work in her church. Funeral arrangements were made by Martin Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday, 12-30-13 from 5-7 PM at 3839 Montana Ave. Friends and family are asked to meet for the graveside service to be held at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery at 12400 Montana, on Tuesday December 31, 2013 at 1:30 PM.
