

Staff Sgt. Ernesto D. Rodriguez was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Force in Africa, French Morocco, Algeria, Tunis, Sardinia and Italy. He also served in France and Germany. His military decorations include the American Defense Service Medal, a European Theater of Operations ribbon, a three-star Good Conduct Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, an Army of Occupation Medal, seven Army Reserve service stripes and seven combat stripes.
Rodriguez was post commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5615, a member of the American Legion Post 36 and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Rodriguez graduated from Bowie High School in 1941.
He was preceded in death by his son Joe (Chevy) Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife Doris A. Rodriguez, his children Col. Humberto W. Rodriguez, U.S. Marine Corps retired, Lt. Cdr. James A. Rodriguez, U.S. Navy retired, C .Yvonne Gallardo, Ernesto R. Rodriguez, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Martin Funeral Home, 3839 Montana Ave. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on June 1 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 519 S.
