Ethel May McGlinsey, a gentle soul, passed away surrounded by family on January 17, 2026. She was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana in 1928. Growing up during the Depression and having been widowed twice, Ethel's character was defined by her strength and resilience. She and her late husband, Edward Scott McGlinsey, fostered a love of country that led to eight children serving in the United States Navy. In 1980, Ethel received a letter of recognition from the Department of the Navy for having the most children from one family enlist in the Navy. Ethel moved to Lake County in 1982 from Indianapolis, Indiana. A respected resident of Eustis, Florida, Ethel was a multi-year first place winner in the annual GEORGEFEST Pie Baking contest. She was also a competitive bowler, seamstress, and avid gardener. While Ethel's love of traveling took her to many different countries, it was Ireland that held her heart. Ethel is survived by her loving family, including her three sons, Hal McGlinsey of Fairland, Indiana, Bud McGlinsey of Middlebury, Indiana and Dennis McGlinsey of Valrico, Florida. She also leaves behind three daughters: Lynn Weathers of Justin, Texas, Patty Shutt of Eustis, Florida, and Nancy Muenzmay of Grand Island, Florida. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Paul. Her legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who cherish her memory. Ethel May McGlinsey will be remembered for the warmth and love she brought to those around her.
