

Joseph was born in Caseyville, KY to Hogue and Oetha (Merritt) Pierson. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII in the 5th Infantry Battalion. He retired from the L&N – CSX Railroad as a conductor after 40 years of service.
In addition to his parents, Jody was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Grace (Sprague) Pierson; infant daughter, Eulia Pierson and a brother, Ruby Pierson.
Survivors include his nephew, Daniel Pierson and his wife, Bonnie of Henderson, KY; great niece, Drew Bealmear and her husband, Jay of Morganfield, KY and a great nephew, Casey Pierson and his wife, Chelsea of Waverly, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
