

Virgil S. Phipps, 72, of Evansville, passed away on Christmas Eve, his favorite day of the year, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born December 3, 1941, in Louisville, KY, to the late Lane and Sadie (Stokes) Phipps.
He served in the National Guard for three years. He retired from the Evansville Police Department after 22 years of service and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He later retired from Crescent City Security as Director for 20 years.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie (Lynxwiler) Phipps; daughters, Shawn (Charlie) Fullerton and Kristy Phipps; son, Deric (Krista) Phipps; grandchildren, Quaid and Cydney West and Cameron and Lara Phipps; great-grandson, Carter West; nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Todd Bussey, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to FOP Lodge #73.
