

Donald Holmes, 94 passed away on Wednesday, March 29 in Edmonds, Washington.
Donald was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on August 30, 1922. His family moved to Los Angeles, California when he was 5. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in the South Pacific as a Sonarman. After WWII he attended the University of Southern California and graduated from Sawyers Business School in 1947. He retired from the California State Board of Equalization as a Supervising Tax Auditor with over 30 years of service. After retirement he lived in Everett, Washington; Quincy and Chico, California.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Connie of 40 years. Don leaves son Larry and wife Susan of Quincy, California; Granddaughter Darby and her husband Travis and Great Grand Daughter Hadlee Heffner of Chico, California; Step Daughter Susan Allenbaugh, of San Diego; Step-son Tom Snyder and wife Georgia and their daughters Tamara Jacobs and Erica and Jeff Becker Family.
Don and Connie enjoyed traveling, and entertaining family and friends. Don was fascinated with flying earning his pilot's license. He particularly enjoyed the planes of WWII. He will be remembered as a kind and generous father and grandfather.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Don's honor on Saturday, April 22 from Noon until 3 PM at Anthony's Beach Cafe, 456 Admiral Way, Edmonds, WA 98020.
