Dad, I still see you every day and hear you voice of reason with every choice I make. You designed the direction of my life when  you bought me my first guitar (from the base, it was purple and plastic! ) I continue to follow your examples and keep calm and peaceful like you taught us to be!

So sorry.  Don was such a wonderful man!  I always loved being with Don & Ann!  Such amazing people !! Praying for peace and comfort for the family .

Big Uncle Don was always a favourite of mine in the family. He was the epitome of the gentle giant who had this amazing movie accent and an aura of confidence and kindness. 
Seeing his love and care for Auntie Ann and the rest of our family meant he is someone I'll always look up to. 

He always had fascinating stories and life experience. He loved bread and butter with his fish n chips and I didn't listen to nearly enough country music with him. 

A giant of a man who's legacy lives on in his amazing children and our hearts.

Don’s warm smile and deep laugh is greatly missed. I was one of his caregivers for the last year-and-a-half. I often told him, “You’re the nicest person I’ve ever cared for” To which he’d reply, “Awww.”
He taught me much: *To pronounce ‘pecan,’ Pea-CAN. *That Ann was THE greatest love of his life (66-years!) *He set an example for me of how to act, if I myself, ever find myself in need of hands-on care. There were times, that care was uncomfortable, or annoying, even painful. He was nothing other than kind and patient. He could be quietly determined, but so could I, and we rubbed along well together over our time together. Every day when I think of him, I find myself tearful. Because of Don, I knew a great soul. When he was passing, I leaned down and spoke into his ear: “It’s been an honor caring for you. You’re a wonderful, magnificent man. You’re someone I wish my own father had been like.”
Don liked to stick his foot out over the side of the bed. One day, just as he did so, my momentum was such I couldn’t avoid it and ended up in free-fall. Sensing this, he raised himself up and caught me with one arm. I still marvel at that. THAT was the character of Don. He summoned strength in instantances of need. He was a rock. We had talks about his Georgia family. Once, I asked him to tell me about his father. I learned that he was a man of quiet strength, a sweet man, a musically-inclined man. His family in Georgia must be  good folk, because he, himself, was too. He missed Georgia: running barefoot; picking fresh corn - eating it straight off the cob. He loved to sing verses from musicals, like “Annie.” Don embodied joy, adventure, courage, indeed, all things of ‘good report.’ From Philippians we read, “… whatever is true, honorable, right, whatever is pure, lovely, or of good repute, if there’s excellence, anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.”  Don left that for us in abundance in memories of his life. Deepest sympathy to his family, w/love.

When I was 21 single and free, Uncle Don and Auntie Ann found out they were pregnant with their 3rd child. The same week Uncle Don got orders to report to Thailand.  He called me and asked if I would live with Auntie Ann while he was gone. He wanted her to take the family back to England which was her home country. Of course I went too. This was the greatest experience of my life! Don asked his best friend Frank Battersea to watch out for me and be sure I had a great time. On weekends we would take Donnie and Zelle out with us. He took me to about every sight to see! Don and Ann took me in as their own. Ann and I were like soulmates. I loved them as my parents. It just breaks my heart and soul to loose Uncle Don! I do have the precious memories of his love and time we spent together! Love and prayers to Ann, Donnie, Zelle , and Belinda!
